Fees & Discounts

​Academic Tutoring per hour (Individual/Private):

​

  • $90.00* with the prepayment discount of $10 off each hour

​​

  • Includes: one hour session, preparation for the tutorial appointment, a review of online grade(s) together (if applicable) and feedback after the session.

 

  • *We offer a “Prepayment” discount of $10/hour if you would like to pay in advance for your tutoring appointments for the month. Together with the parents/guardians, the student, and ourselves, we assess the needs of your student and plan on “x” amount of sessions to occur during a particular month. We then invoice you at the beginning of the month, and payment is due by the 10th of the month of service. If payment arrives after the 10th, the prepayment option is not applicable and therefore reverts back to the regular rate of service (see below). By choosing this plan, it lowers the hourly cost to $90.00 per hour.

  • Please note: With this prepayment discount/option, all prepaid hours are booked in advance and are locked in for those agreed upon days and times. If you don’t want to lock in certain days and times, you may pay after services have been received (see below).

​

 

Academic Tutoring per hour (Individual)

​

  • $100.00 (no prepayment, payment due by the 10th of the following month of service)

​​

  • Includes: one hour session, preparation for the tutorial appointment, a review of online grade(s) together (if applicable) and feedback after the session.

​​

  • Please note: With this payment option, one is still able to lock in a specific day and time, However, with a minimum of 24 hours notice, you are able to move the appointment if needed.

Small group academic tutoring:

​

● 2 students:  $65 per student, per hour   ($260/month)

● 3 students:  $56 per student, per hour   ($224/month)

● 4 students:  $47 per student, per hour   ($188/month)

● 5 students:  $35 per student, per hour   ($140/month)

 

Important Notes: 

​

  • Drop-in rate (NO commitment) is $55/hour in a preset class.

  • No more than 5 students per small group will be permitted.

  • Academic tutoring sessions have a 1 hour minimum, but more may be booked depending on student need.

  • No prepayment discount available for small group tutoring.

Independent Study (including any online coursework):

​

Any independent coursework done independently or online through Brigham Young University (or other online courses) will be assessed an additional fee for outside prep work on the tutor’s part. This includes reviewing all materials, preparing a

binder for the student and tutor to work through as well as preparing for speedbacks or other ongoing assessments. Usually online courses require some additional outside online work on the tutor’s part, which is not included in our hourly fees. This fee will be determined when the course title has been given to Carmel Academics.

College Entrance Essays:

​

  • $110/hour (due by the 10th of the following month of service)

  • $400 –Four hour bundle -PREPAID ONLY

Placement Exam:

​

  • $110/ hour (due by the 10th of the following month of service)

  • $400 –Four hour bundle -PREPAID ONLY

Proctoring Exams: 

There are different types and needs of proctoring exams. See below:

​

  • Independent Study or online work: NO CHARGE if Rachel is qualified to proctor and you are a current Carmel Academics student.

​​

  • SAT/ACT/SAT II/SSAT/CAHSEE/GRE: NO CHARGE if you are currently enrolled with us for test preparation lessons. If you are not, there is a $90/exam (usually 4 hours/exam) which includes the exam proctoring, grading of the exam and a full analysis written by the test preparation tutor.

  • School Exam: NO CHARGE if Rachel is qualified to proctor. If not, there is an hourly fee of $45.

SAT/ACT/PSAT/SAT II/SSAT/CAHSEE/GRE  Test Preparation:

​

  • Private lesson:  (1 student/1 tutor ):  $165 per hour *(1.5 hours required)

 

  • Small group lesson: 2 students:  $111 per hour/student*  (1.5 hours required)

                                                 3 students:  $91 per hour/student* (1.5 hours required)

                                                 4 students  $71 per hour/student*  (1.5 hours required)

 

  • Includes: one and a half hour tutorial with tailored lesson plans written specifically for your student, preparation for the tutorial appointment, a test prep text/materials including take-home practice, proctored exams (number of exams will be determined once we decide on which plan you choose), personalized calendar of appointments and proctored exams, test-taking strategies, and a completed Feedback Form.

 

Important Notes : 

​

  • Test prep sessions have a 1.5 hour minimum, longer by request

 

  • No prepayment discount available for SAT/ACT/PSAT/SATII/SSAT/CAHSEE/GRE Test Prep (but one can enroll in our 10 session package and receive the 11th session FREE ($247.50 value). 

​

TEN Session Package with the 11th session FREE ($247.50 value): $2,475

​

  • Includes: TEN one and a half hour tutorials with tailored lesson plans written specifically for your student, preparation for the tutorial appointment, a test prep text/materials including take-home practice, proctored exams (number of exams will be determined once we decide on which plan you choose), personalized calendar of appointments and proctored exams, test-taking strategies, and a completed Feedback Form.

  • Payment is due in FULL at the first session to receive the 11th session FREE OF CHARGE. 

​

  • No refunds for this package once sessions have begun.

 

Location Fee:

​

A location fee of $30 per session, not per hour, will apply if the meeting location is out of our office (Monterey Peninsula only). We compensate our tutors for their drive time and this fee helps offset that cost. If you would like to avoid a Location Fee, please feel free to use our office in Carmel-by-the-Sea. If the requested site is off of the peninsula, the Location Fee will be determined by our rate sheet (see Rachel for quote).

Late Payment Fee:

 

Due to excessive unpaid balances, we unfortunately have been forced to implement a late payment policy. We hope to encourage all of our clients to stay current on their invoice balances. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but hope you understand our dilemma.

 

Prepayments not received by the 10th of the month of service will revert back to the full fee on the 11th. You will then have until the 10th of the following month of service to submit payment in full. If payment has still not arrived by the 10th, a late fee of

$35/month/outstanding invoice will be added to your invoice.

 

Full Fee: Those choosing to pay after services have been received have until the 10th of the following month of service to submit full payment. If payment has not arrived by the 10th of that month, a late fee of $35/ month will be added to your invoice.
